SpringStrings

The Orchestra

SpringStrings is a String Orchestra which started September 2003.
The goal is to have 60 members, distributed on Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Violoncello and Dobble Bass. SpringStrings currently has around 50 members.

SpringStrings is mainly intended for children taking lessons at the music academy of Lyngby-Taarbæk.

The Orchestra meet for rehearsal every monday afternoon.
In some weeks, the first half of the reheasal is made in seperate groups, while the remaining part of the rehearsal is for the complete orchestra.

The members of the Orcherstra have different experiences. The music arrangments are made having this in mind. The most experienced musicians are playing the A - parts, The B - parts are intended for musicians having some experience, and C - parts are made for novices.

The "A-orchestra" contains the musicians playing the A-parts. Those musisians meet for a seperate rehearsal playing different music pieces.

Traditions

Even though SpringStrings is a quite new Orchestra, a few traditions are already introduced.
During the autumn half-year, the Orchestra is having a rehearsal camp - somewhere in Denmark.

In the spring half-year a visit and/or re-visit to/from some corresponding orchestra is intended.
In April 2004, SpringStrings visited Jugend-StreicherForum at the Staatlichen Jugendmusikschule Hamburg - followed in June 2004 by a visit of Jugend-StreicherForum in Denmark.

Society

An Orchestra-society is created for practical and monetary activities. The society is a member of the Danish Organisation Musik & Ungdom (e.g. JM Denmark); which in turn is a member of Jeunesses Musicales International.

The mandatory subscribtion fee is 200 DKR (around 25 Euro).
